Walter has been involved in NASA research and grantsmanship since 1987. Since
arriving at SCSU in 1994, he has received over $8 million in funding from NASA
for research, education and outreach projects.
Walter was awarded a NASA Faculty Fellowship in 2004 and spent 10 weeks studying comets at the Goddard Center for Astrobiology which is part of the Laboratory for Extraterrestrial Physics at the Goddard Space Flight Center.
